Australia's workforce is one of our greatest strengths. Every day, people show up to do their jobs, and workplaces have a responsibility to protect them from harm and support their health and wellbeing. Yet WHS statistics show that injuries happen, people are harmed, and the systems designed to prevent this can be difficult to navigate.
Why SafeWork Coach Is Needed
Health and safety is complex and workplaces may differ, yet the core actions are often similar. When people have the right knowledge, they become more confident and capable. And when WHS is embedded into everyday business, it becomes more reliable and sustainable. SafeWork Coach is designed to make WHS easier to understand, easier to apply, and easier to sustain.
There is no shortage of information, but it can be overwhelming, inconsistent, or hard to apply. For many stepping into WHS responsibilities — whether early in their career, navigating a difficult situation at work, or trying to make sense of WHS after earlier attempts — it can be difficult to know where to start.
SafeWork Coach is being launched to change that. It brings key information together in one place, with clear steps, practical resources, and guidance that builds knowledge and confidence. At the same time, it helps businesses strengthen compliance, capability, and the reliability of their WHS practices.
For those in their mid and later stages of their careers, SafeWork Coach also creates a pathway to share knowledge built over decades. Their practical insight is invaluable, and this platform provides opportunities to coach, guide, and support others, ensuring experience is passed on and not lost.
Our Journey to Launch
The journey from soft launch to full launch in October 2026, during Safe Work Month, is well underway. The soft launch will introduce the first programs, pilot modules, gather feedback, and begin early enrolments, with coaches ready to support learners as the platform grows.
Beyond launch, the opportunities are significant. SafeWork Coach is designed to bring WHS knowledge to a wider range of industries and communities. Courses are delivered using professionally developed resources and avatars, allowing content to be easily updated as legislation and practice evolve, and translated into multiple languages.
Australia is a multicultural nation, and SafeWork Coach is built with that diversity in mind, with the potential to support learners internationally as well. What began with initial funding from WorkCover Queensland through their Injury Risk Reduction Initiative — focused on reducing occupational violence through incident analysis and risk reduction — has grown into the development of SafeWork Coach. This foundation has created a platform with the potential to support safer, healthier workplaces across Queensland, Australia and beyond.
